Welcome to Lake St.Bernard Trout and Game Farm; a beautiful piece of paradise situated in the Southern Drakensberg. Lake St.Bernard is a 68 Hectare lake on a privately owned livestock farm which is popular for its Rainbow and Brown trout fishing. Come and stay at our 3 beautiful cottages on the water, for a typical African farm experience. 

This is the perfect spot to spend time with family and friends, unwinding in a truly spectacular environment. The tranquil mountain setting is great for energetic outdoor enthusiasts and the lake is scenically one of the most beautiful lakes in the country.

We have a variety of activities for you to enjoy including trout fly fishing, game walks, mountain biking, hikes, birding and much more!!!

Who says fishing trips can’t be luxurious? 

Lake St Bernard offers three luxurious cottages which all have spectacular views of the Lake, St Bernards Peak and surrounding Mountains.

For the fisherman’s wife and family, this venue is also for you!!! 

There is plenty of room for family and friends, enjoy canoeing and swimming in the lake, picnics under some beautiful trees with the most amazing views of our spectacular surroundings. St Bernards Peak Mountain Lodge is situated approximately 2km from the cottages where you can enjoy a swim in their pool, have a meal, go horse riding or watch rugby at the bar.

Ashleigh will be your host at Lake St Bernard, she has a great love of the outdoors and is passionate about photography. Her husband, Brandon, has a passion for outdoors and fishing, and manages the farms surrounding the Lake.



The Lake is stocked with brown and rainbow trout. The biggest fish caught in our waters are 13lb, and many 5lb-10lb fish. Fishing on the continent of South Africa ...


Horse Riding is available at the local lodge and is very popular as the surroundings are so beautiful. What better way to see the beautiful environment around Lake St.Bernard ...


The Three named hikes are: Bushmen Paintings Hike, Bamboo Pools Hike and Waterfall Hike however there are numerous places to walk and adventure around...


Fly Fishing is Strictly Catch and Release NO pets are allowed. NO power boats, motor bikes or quad bikes are allowed. All Booking Fees and Rod Fees to be paid by EFT only.


The nearest shops are in Kokstad or Underberg an hour away. You can expect the best fly fishing from April to September. For Hikes, four Bamboo pools are situated at the foot of the mountain. Bushmen paintings are a 40 minutes walk up the mountain and 20 mins down.
